What is Poker?


Poker is a card game where players try to win chips. You win with the best five-card hand or when other players fold.

Each hand has betting rounds. On your turn you can: check bet call raise or fold.

In Texas Hold’em you get 2 cards in your hand, and there are 5 shared cards on the table.

Use this simple chart to see which poker hand wins. It shows the order from best to worst, so you can learn fast and play with confidence.

Hand order

  1. Royal Flush – A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.
  2. Straight Flush – Five in a row, same suit.
  3. Four of a Kind – Four cards with the same number (e.g., four 7s).
  4. Full House – Three of a kind + one pair.
  5. Flush – Five cards of the same suit, any numbers.
  6. Straight – Five in a row, any suits.
  7. Three of a Kind – Three cards with the same number.
  8. Two Pair – Two different pairs.
  9. One Pair – One pair.
  10. High Card – No pair; highest card wins.

Texas Hold’em – Quick Start (5 steps)


Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game. Follow these five steps to play your first hand.

  1. Blinds

    Two players put in forced bets before the deal: small blind and big blind.

  2. Deal cards

    Each player gets 2 cards face down. These are your hole cards.

  3. First bet (Preflop)

    Look at your cards. Choose to fold, call the big blind, or raise.

  4. Flop, Turn, River (three bet rounds)

    • Flop: 3 shared cards on the table — bet again.
    • Turn: 4th shared card — bet again.
    • River: 5th shared card — last bet.
  5. Showdown

    If two or more players stay in, everyone shows cards. Best five-card hand wins. If all others fold, you win right away.
